About Me
Stephany N. Mejia
First-Generation Latinx Licensed Therapist.
Hi, I’m Stephany N. Mejia, MSW, LCSW (she/her/ella) — a first-generation, Latinx (Nicaraguan/Dominican), bilingual licensed clinical social worker and the owner of Healing Seeds Therapy PLLC.
As a holistic, relational-based therapist, I center the mind-body connection and integrate attachment-based support into my work. Grounded in an anti-oppressive and progressive approach, my practice is liberation-focused, and I co-create healing spaces alongside my clients. I am Health at Every Size (HAES) aligned and Queer Affirming.
I specialize in working with individuals navigating complex family dynamics, adult children of emotionally immature or narcissistic parents, pregnant people and parents (including those going through fertility treatments or choosing to be child-free), LGBTQ+ individuals, and those experiencing life transitions and stressors. Central themes in my work include identity exploration, racial trauma and stress, first-generation experiences, and reconnection to self.
I am trained through Postpartum Support International and have specialized training in maternal mental health, including the treatment of pregnant and postpartum individuals. Additionally, I have several years of experience focused on early childhood mental health and love supporting parents in nurturing strong, healthy relationships with their young children.
Beyond clinical work, I am a 200-hour trained yoga teacher, having studied social justice-oriented yoga with Michelle Cassandra Johnson through Skills in Action in Winston-Salem, NC.
I earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Nonprofit Studies from North Carolina State University, and later completed a Master’s in Clinical Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Originally from Washington Heights, New York City, I currently live in North Carolina. My background as a working-class individual raised by a single immigrant mother deeply informs the values and approach I bring to therapy.
In my spare time, I explore ancestral healing practices, tend to my many plants, DJ, and create playlists and booklists designed to support the healing journeys of those I serve.
Starting in 2025, I will begin Internal Family Systems (IFS) training and look forward to offering this powerful modality to my clients.

Holistic Therapy
This approach is focused on integrating various forms of healing in order to address the WHOLE person. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, this method seeks to uncover and work with underlying emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects that may impact an individual's well-being. In Holistic Therapy, the therapist collaborates with clients to explore a range of factors such as mental patterns, physical health, lifestyle, and personal beliefs, creating a tailored approach to growth and healing.

EMDR (Eye Movement Reprocessing Therapy)
EMDR involves talking and bilateral stimulation — typically eye movements or tapping. EMDR aims to reduce distress and negative beliefs associated with past overwhelming or traumatic experiences. This short video explains how EMDR can be used to help adults.

Somatic Based Therapy
Somatic-based therapy focuses on increasing physical awareness, helping to identify and build the ability to look for resourcing within and helping to develop the ability to engage the breath and incorporate movement when available or possible.
I use my somatic-based training as a 200-hour trained yoga teacher to help with body-based stressors, moving trauma out of the body through trauma-informed yoga and focusing on the mind-body connection.
