About Me

Stephany N. Mejia

First-Generation, Bilingual, Bicultural Latinx Licensed Therapist.

Hi, I’m Stephany N. Mejia, MSW, LCSW (she/her/ella) — is a first-generation Nicaraguan-Dominican bilingual therapist and the founder of Healing Seeds Therapy PLLC. She offers holistic, attachment-based, and liberation-focused therapy rooted in anti-oppressive values.

As a holistic, relationally focused therapist, I honor the deep connection between mind, body, and spirit. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens in relationship—both with ourselves and others—and I integrate attachment-based support to help clients deepen their sense of safety, connection, and belonging. As a queer therapist, I hold space for the complexities of identity, centering liberation and affirming the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities. My approach is collaborative, attuned, and rooted in the values of authenticity, justice, and care.

I specialize in supporting individuals navigating complex family dynamics, including adult children of emotionally immature or narcissistic parents and eldest daughters who have carried a deep sense of responsibility within their families. I work with pregnant people and parents—whether they are pursuing fertility treatment, embracing child-free living, or adjusting to new roles in parenthood—as well as LGBTQ+ individuals and those facing major life transitions or stressors. Central to my practice are themes of identity exploration, racial and relational trauma, first-generation experiences, and the lifelong process of reconnecting to one’s authentic self.

I have specialized training in maternal mental health through Postpartum Support International, with a focus on the emotional well-being of pregnant and postpartum individuals. My background also includes several years of experience in early childhood mental health, and I am passionate about supporting parents in cultivating strong, nurturing, and developmentally supportive relationships with their young children.

In addition to my clinical work, I am a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, having trained in a social justice-oriented approach to yoga with Michelle Cassandra Johnson through Skill in Action in Winston-Salem, NC. This practice informs my understanding of the mind-body connection and deepens my commitment to healing work that is grounded in equity, embodiment, and collective care.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Nonprofit Studies from North Carolina State University and earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Originally from Washington Heights, New York City, I now reside in North Carolina and am licensed to provide therapy in North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. My upbringing as a working-class daughter of a single immigrant mother profoundly shapes the values I bring into the therapy space—centering resilience, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to healing within marginalized communities.

In my spare time, I explore ancestral healing practices, tend to my many plants, DJ, and create playlists and booklists designed to support the healing journeys of those I serve.

Starting in 2025, I will begin Internal Family Systems (IFS) training and look forward to offering this powerful modality to my clients.

Caring for myself is not self-indulgence it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare”

Modalities + Specialties

  • Brainspotting (BSP)

Brainspotting is a relational, brain-body-based therapy that can help integrate unprocessed trauma stuck in the body. If you choose, we can incorporate brainspotting into your therapeutic experience. To learn more about BSP, you can do so here.

  • Holistic Therapy

This approach is focused on integrating various forms of healing in order to address the WHOLE person. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, this method seeks to uncover and work with underlying emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects that may impact an individual's well-being. In Holistic Therapy, the therapist collaborates with clients to explore a range of factors such as mental patterns, physical health, lifestyle, and personal beliefs, creating a tailored approach to growth and healing.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Reprocessing Therapy)

EMDR involves talking and bilateral stimulation — typically eye movements or tapping. EMDR aims to reduce distress and negative beliefs associated with past overwhelming or traumatic experiences. This short video explains how EMDR can be used to help adults.

  • Somatic Based Therapy

Somatic-based therapy focuses on increasing physical awareness, helping to identify and build the ability to look for resourcing within and helping to develop the ability to engage the breath and incorporate movement when available or possible.

I use my somatic-based training as a 200-hour trained yoga teacher to help with body-based stressors, moving trauma out of the body through trauma-informed yoga and focusing on the mind-body connection.
